The deck has 56 cards, one for each of 56 consecutive elements of the periodic table. Use the Start at setting to choose the first element in play (Hydrogen by default); changing it deals a new game.
The 4 Home Cells start with the 1st, 15th, 29th, and 43rd elements of the deck already in place (Hydrogen, Silicon, Copper, and Molybdenum when starting at Hydrogen). Each home pile holds 14 elements.
A card can be moved onto a Home Cell pile only if its atomic number is one greater than the element currently on top of that pile (e.g. Helium may follow Hydrogen).
A card can be moved onto the end of a cascade if the last card there is the element with atomic number one less than it (e.g. Oxygen may be placed on Nitrogen), or onto any empty cascade.
A card can be moved into any empty Free Cell; dropping on an occupied one parks the card in the nearest empty cell instead.
A red ▼ on a card points down to the next element covering it - click it to lift that card and the whole stack on top of it. If the lead card can go home, the entire stack may be dropped on a home cell. A stack may only be moved as a unit anywhere else if there are enough empty free cells and columns to shuffle the cards through individually..
Click a card to pick it up (and any valid run of in-order cards beneath it), then click a destination pile to drop it. Click again to deselect. Release a selected card over empty board space to send it (and its stack) home automatically if possible.
The Hint button highlights a card that can move and its valid destinations, or reports that no moves remain.
Win by moving all 56 cards onto the Home Cells.
